Your first stop to prepare for an extreme weather event or other emergency potentially affecting Gasparilla is Sarasota County Emergency Management.

IMPORTANT: Englewood is situated in two counties – Sarasota and Charlotte – and the closest shelter may be in Charlotte County. Some shelters accept pets.

→The Sarasota County Storm Center telephone number is 941-861-5000 and the website has helpful information for links to weather, alert levels, and more.

→The Sarasota County Emergency Operations Center is also on Facebook and Twitter.

→Sarasota County CodeRED is a telephone notification system for emergency situations. You need to register to receive notices. Your information is only used for these notifications. Hint: if you use a smartphone, add the CodeRED contact info to your phone, so you’ll know who is calling.

→Know your evacuation zone: Gasparilla’s property is located in two zones, Sarasota County A & B.

*A NOAA Weather Radio is a very helpful tool to have in your home. It will alert you to extreme weather events predicted in your area. Be sure to get one that works on electricity and batteries. For $30 or under, you will have reliable weather information and an early warning system.
