Hurricane Irma visited Gasparilla on 9/10/2017. Some of us left for what we hoped were safer grounds, while others weathered the storm right here. We were all glued to our devices, TV or otherwise watching the storm progress. Right up until the last minute we expected a Cat. 4-5 hurricane. Then…she veered off to the east with a tropical storm punch, and then north of us looped back west and then northeast. Irma scurried about those hours; once again we dodged a big bullet, our homes are good, we’re all safe, and for that we are so very thankful.
We also thank those here who worked fiercely to gather the debris into massive piles and to clear our driveways and walkways. This was a huge effort! Thank you, thank you!!!
